Dream Big. Love Bigger
Updated: Jul 9, 2020

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him.
– 1 Corinthians 2:9
Do you have larger than life dreams? So big you’re afraid to say them out loud for fear people will think you’re crazy?
This summer, my husband and daughter followed the Tour de France. That race never ceases to amaze me! With grueling climbs and scorching heat, bikers race for 2,200 miles over 21 days. Dan pointed out how the racers get thinner and thinner over the weeks. He also explained how the difficulties of the race pale in comparison to the sacrifices the racers make throughout their training year.
Tour de France racers spend thousands of hours on the bike, often alone in bad weather, dreaming of one day crossing the finish line and wearing the winner’s yellow jersey.
Like me, you’re probably not dreaming of competing in The Tour, but God has bigger dreams and plans for you than you can imagine. He promises that: no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
But some of us struggle with the concept of LOVING God. We can’t see, hear, or touch Him, so how are we to love him?
Perhaps it’s a little easier when we look at loving God the same way we look at loving others.
Many of us demonstrate our love for others by:
Spending time together.
Speaking our love, and
Serving them.
Because time, affirmation, and service all communicate love.
Think about a close friend or spouse. If you barely spent any time together, rarely spoke your affection, and hardly ever served them, would your relationship flourish? No way!
Well, it’s the same with God. If we rarely spend time reading God’s word, pray infrequently, and ignore His prompts to serve others, then the flame of our relationship will grow dim, or die out completely.
This week, I challenge you to prioritize your relationship with your heavenly father. Write TWG (Time with God) on your “TO DO” list. Carve out time on your calendar to walk and talk with God alone. Or sit and count your blessings, thanking God for each one.
It’s often while we’re focusing on our love relationship with God that He blows our minds with His dreams for our lives. Worth your time? Definitely. A race worth running? For sure, no matter the sacrifice.
3 O’CLOCK CIRCLES
Here are 3 questions you can discuss with someone or in a circle with several others.
What’s one dream you have for your life?
Do you think God’s dreams for you could be greater than your own? Have you ever caught a glimpse of that? When?
What’s the best way for you to build a love relationship with God?
